At re:imagine/ATL we try to bring youth across social, economic, and geographic borders together through creative technologies. We try to empower young people from all walks of life to cultivate their creative passions in creative industries to affect both their personal career and impact their local community. One way of doing this is our summer camp, The Green Room. We believe The Green Room can produce the next generation of innovative filmmakers.
The Green Room runs Monday to Friday, from 10AM. to 4PM. Campers create it all, from ideation, storyboarding through filming and post production. The campers will have access to all types of equipment from cameras and lights to editing software; all of this while working under a hard deadline. If you are interested in participating or your kid participating in this year’s camp, there are two spots left in the second week. You can register them here: https://thegreenroomatl.wufoo.com/forms/camp-registration/
This is the third year for The Green Room. This camp is organized into two weeks, July 11-15, which will take place at Spitfire Studios, and July 25-29, which will take place at MASS Collective. Throughout each week, guests come in to work with the campers. These guests are different each week and differ from year to year. This year’s guests include Brandon Ross Productions, who will help to build large cardboard puppets, Nick Madden, who will help create sets out of recycled materials, and Cinema Greens, who will provide plants for lush, natural plants and spaces.
What you can look forward to in this summer’s program are virtual reality and a 360 music video. A 360 music video is panoramic experience for the viewer. The viewer can control the camera by pressing keys or by moving the mouse or tablet around. ATLVR will be helping us to shoot in this style.
The culmination of these camps is the Purple Sparkle Carpet Bash on July 30 in the Rich Theater in the Woodruff Arts Center at 5PM. This event will premier the complete work of the campers and is open to the campers, their families, the community, local celebrities, local leaders, and members of the press. Tickets are free so make sure you get yours before they are all gone: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/reimagineatl-purple-sparkle-carpet-event-tickets-24270751471
