re:imagine/ATL Development Contractor

Background: re:imagine/ATL’s mission is to empower the next generation of storytellers through film and digital media. Our programs unite youth from diverse backgrounds while teaching workforce development skills, creating access to high-demand career pathways, forging industry relationships, and nurturing untold stories within the greater community.  

Description: The Development Contractor (DC) is responsible for further developing, managing, and executing the organization’s overall funding plan and maintaining communications with re:imagine/ATL stakeholders and the community. The DC works with the executive team to raise the annual budget by managing all fundraising goals and strategies for the staff and Board of Directors for grants, corporate sponsorships (Alliance Partners), events, program contracts, and individual donor cultivation. The Development Contractor will report directly to the Executive Director, sharing updates on progress and goals.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Developing and implementing short- and long-term development plan to meet established development goals and objectives. This includes but is not limited to strategic initiatives for:

  • Securing major gifts
  • Developing individual donors

  • Corporate partnerships

  • Foundation grants

  • Program sales contracts

  • Defining stewardship and prospecting tactics and strategies

  • Designing and implementing fundraising/cultivation events

Relationship Management

  • Creating relationships with prospective donors

  • Develop strategies for existing donors to effectively move them through a meaningful cycle of giving

  • Manage/Track all Alliance partner deliverables

  • Work directly with Operations Director, Executive Director, Communications Contractor, and the programs team to ensure cohesive strategies across the organization

Revenue Tracking & Management

  • Track all monthly revenue

  • Prepare and submit monthly revenue and donor reports

  • Send quarterly acknowledgement/thank you letters on behalf of re:imagine/ATL

Leverage external communications to engage with and grow re:imagine/ATL’s community by:

  • Creating and sending e-newsletters via Mailchimp with input from Communications Consultant

  • Implementing a social media strategy around a variety of stakeholder groups by

    • Working with the communications consultant on specific campaigns

    • Maintaining Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat

  • Engaging and communicating with the community about re:imagine/ATL work and upcoming events

 As the staff person in charge of all re:imagine/ATL fundraising events you will

  • Work directly with the fundraising and events committees on the Board of Directors to design, plan, and execute a major fundraising gala and other “micro” fundraisers throughout the year


  • Bachelor's Degree, or a combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired

  • At least three years of relevant work experience

  • Strategic thinker

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Sales background- understand how to create value propositions for companies, school administration, and nonprofits

  • Experience in professional written correspondence

  • Experience with relationship management and development

  • Ability to plan and successfully implement large and complex fundraising events

  • Familiarity of best practices of social media to reach a diverse group of stakeholders

  • Understanding and knowledge of both traditional and non-traditional fundraising strategies for nonprofits

  • Proven track record of delivering on financial goals

  • Familiarity with online tools, such as Slack, Google Docs, MailChimp, Squarespace and Asana

  • Available some nights and weekends
